I have always been extremely interested in fashion, grooming and women in particular. My earliest childhood memories are of watching Miss Australia and Miss World and loving all that.Joh is one of Australias fruchtwein recognised and respected hairstylists. With a loyal following including some of the worlds most beautiful women Elle Macpzu sichson, Eva Longoria, Linda Evangelista his flair for hair has taken him to the most glamorous corners of the globe. Joh and his team regularly work with leading fashion houses on their season launches and their work appears frequently in Australias top fashion magazines.Why did you first go into hairdressing?The truth is I had no idea what I actually wanted to do and I saw the ad in a paper. I have alw ays been extremely interested in fashion, grooming and women in particular. My earliest childhood memories are of watching Miss Australia and Miss World and loving all that. I started my apprenticeship three days after my HSC.How long did it take for you to find your niche in the area and excel in the profession?It was pretty quick really. I opened this salon eight months after I finished my apprenticeship when I was 22, so it came to me very naturally.What do you think it takes to be successful?I think it takes a certain amount of natural ability, but its like anything really it takes hard work, dedication and desire, more than anything else. You have to really want it.What other work have you been involved in?Ive done a lot of television. Im in my fifth year of Mornings with Kerri-Anne. I also do Australias Next Top Model each season, Project Runway andThe Biggest Loser.I suppose it isnt something I signed up for in the beginning, but its become a natural progression and I really enjoy it. Ive also worked all around the world London, New York, Los Angeles, India and China.Youve also worked with a lot of amazing women who has been the best to work with?Definitely Diana, Princess of Wales She was the most famous woman in the world, and the most glamorous and the most beautiful. It was such a thrill to be asked to do her hair.Is there a lot of pressure working on some of these womens hair?There is, but Im confident. You need to at least appear very confident.What advice do you have for young people starting out in hairdressing?My advice would be to start in a good and reputable salon because you need to get the right training from the start.Got a flair for hair?
